The PA11HON or PA15HON2 Acura / Honda iPod interface provides direct connection for an iPod plus an optional audio source such as satellite radio, DVD, or video game system. Both the iPod and the additional audio source can be selected from the factory radio’s front panel. The interface adapter connects the iPod to your factory Honda or Acura radio as if it were a CD changer, allowing direct selection of iPod playlists through the radio’s preset (or disc) buttons and is compatible with all iPod models featuring the dock connector, including the iPod nano and 5G iPod video.
Three operating modes are available- Playlist, Direct, or Hybrid. In Playlist mode the controls on the radio will operate the iPod only, and the iPod's click wheel is locked out for safety while driving. In the Direct mode the iPod's controls are used to navigate through the iPod's menus and select songs, artists, playlists, etc. and the factory radio controls will provide volume/tone control only. The Hybrid operates like Playlist mode but the iPod controls are unlocked allowing direct access of all controls directly from the iPod's clickwheel. All modes still charge the iPod while connected, for up to one hour to prevent over-charging. UPDATE: Please note, due to Apple's software changes in the new iPods, the new iPhone and iPod Touch, work fine in the direct mode, but do not currently work in the new Hybrid mode. Apple recently changed the Dock Connector spec on the new 3G iPhone and the new 4G Nano, new iPod Touch. The result of this change is that these new iPods and new 3G iPhone will not charge on USA-Spec's existing interfaces. Except for the charging issue, all USA-Spec's current interfaces work fine. USA-Spec has designed a new cable that fixes the charging issue and it is now available as a option for all our customers. Retail cost is $18 and we expect to ship this cable starting November 2008. NOTE: The PA15HON2 includes the new CBPA105 cable that is charging compatible with the iPhone 3G, 4th Gen Nano, 2nd Gen iPod Touch, and 120GB iPod Classic.
