Newer iPod and iPhone models no longer accept the 12volt charging which was the original standard from Apple. For this reason many older accessories do not charge the newer iPod units, so PIE has created the CC-IPD to solve this problem. The CC-IPD is designed to convert the 12 volt power supplied by an iPod accessory on the firewire pins to 5 volts on the usb pins of the iPod. The CC-IPD has a female dock connector to connect to the accessory and allows pass-through of all other connections (excluding firewire pins). With the CC-IPD connected, the iPhone 3G and newly released iPod models will now charge with existing iPod integration systems.
Compatibility notes: - The CC-IPD is compatible with the "POD2 & POD/S" (oem iPod interfaces) product lines.
- Not recommended for use with the "POD" (oem iPod interfaces) series product line.
- Not compatible with the pie part # HON03-POD/S when using iPhone 3G.
Compatible iPod include:

- iPod touch (2nd generation, 3rd generation)
- iPod classic (2nd generation 120GB, 3rd generation 160GB)

Note: the CC-IPD is specifically designed to fix the charging error associated with several iPod and iPhone accessories. If the accessory you are intending to use does not initially support the audio or video functionality of the iPod or iPhone , the CC-IPD will not enable these features.
