USA-Spec now makes four different interfaces for the Acura line of vehicles.  The PA11HON, PA15HON2, PA15HON3, and PA15ACUxl provide direct connection for an iPod and an optional audio source such as satellite radio, DVD, or video game system. Both the iPod and the additional audio source can be selected from the factory radio’s front panel. Allows selection of tracks or playlists. Compatible with all iPod models featuring the dock connector including the new iPod nano and 5G iPod video.

The these interfaces have three operating modes available- Playlist, Direct, or Hybrid mode. In Playlist mode the controls on the radio will operate the iPod only, and the iPod's click wheel is locked out for safety while driving. In the Direct mode, the iPod's controls are used to navigate through the iPod's menus to select songs, artists, playlists, etc. The the factory radio controls will provide volume/tone control only. The Hybrid mode operates like Playlist mode but the iPod's clickwheel is unlocked and can also be used. All modes still charge the iPod while connected, for up to one hour to prevent over-charging.

NOTE: Please note, due to software changes in some new iPods, the iPhone and iPod Touch, work fine in the direct mode, but do not work in the Hybrid mode.

Important Note for New iPod Owners: With the release of the new iPods in July '08, Apple changed the connector dock on the iPod Touch 2nd Generation, iPhone 3G, and iPod Nano 4th Generation causing all existing interfaces at that time (including all other brands) to play but not charge these new models. USA-Spec now includes the new charging cable in both kits and it is compatible with the new iPods and backwards compatible with previous generation iPods.
